Externships

Off-site problem-solving based on client challenges. Client feedback on solutions. Allows students to build their skill-set and portfolio in a flexible manner without a 9-5 internship.

How it works:

Students will meet with a business or organization to learn about a real problem they need help solving.  Students will then have two-four weeks (depending on the nature of the problem) to develop a solution(s). Students will meet twice a week in the evening during the length of the externship to work together, meet with the externship mentor and delegate responsibilities. Students will be taught how to incorporate design thinking and business model canvas strategies into their problem solving process. Students can work individually or in teams to solve the challenge.  At the conclusion of the externship experience, students will present their solution to the client business or organization and will receive authentic feedback. Students will incorporate their learning, skills development and the deliverable into an online portfolio.
