Externship: Independent, off-site work-based learning opportunities with local companies and mentors (unpaid). Allows students to gain experience and build skills flexibly, without a 9-5 internship.

(Externship) Five Years In: Externship in Social Entrepreneurship and Program Development
Five Years In is seeking a student to engage in a summer externship in education and social entrepreneurship. The student and Meredith will co-design and develop a program/event for students or teachers that connects the future of work with the future of school and learning. Skill focus: professional communication, partnership activation, program development, social entrepreneurship, event planning, strategy, foresight. Mentorship: 1X per week 2 hour meeting in person, email check-ins and communication.
Duration: 4-6 weeks between the months of June and August (flexible start/end date)

(Externship) Build the Skillset of a Marketing Professional
Scott Bush is Chief Marketing Officer for Athletic.net and seeks to mentor a student in the areas of marketing, communications and PR. The student and Scott will break down core marketing philosophies and trends, brainstorm potential campaigns, then build a marketing campaign that can be put into practice. Skill focus: marketing, strategy development, branding, PR, design and implementation, project management and analysis. Mentorship: 1x per week 2-hour meeting in-peron, email check-ins and communication.

(Program) FounderZ Weekend: A weekend-long social entrepreneurship challenge in February
FounderZ Weekend (Formerly Startup Camp) is open to all Portland-area high school students. During the weekend of February 16-18, students from across Portland will come together to develop organizations, products, and services that make a positive impact on the world. Students will make their ideas happen during a weekend of mentor-supported social innovation for high school students. It's three days of intense collaboration, innovation, prototyping, connecting, alliance-building, learning from feedback and taking action to build a better future.
Duration: Friday, February 16-Sunday, February 18, 2018
Eligibility: High School Students in the Portland area
Register: Online starting at 5 PM on 1/5/18.  $100 registration fee, financial aid available.
